For decades, Iranian academic spaces were dominated by a mix of leftist abstraction, reformist paralysis, and enforced apathy. This environment suited the regime. It produced critique without direction and dissent without consequence.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"20kti-0-0\">\n<h3 class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"20kti-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"20kti-0-0\">That phase is ending<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"24mtm-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"24mtm-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"24mtm-0-0\">Universities are no longer neutral cultural buffers. What is re-emerging is national continuity as a political principle.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"154jl-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"154jl-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"154jl-0-0\">For the first time since 1979, Iranian identity itself\u2014rather than ideology\u2014is becoming the organizing force of opposition.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"dh4hi-0-0\">\n<h3 class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"dh4hi-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"dh4hi-0-0\">October 7 and the Regime\u2019s Strategic Exposure<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"4dcbr-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"4dcbr-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"4dcbr-0-0\">The October 7 attacks accelerated this realignment. The Islamic Republic eliminated any remaining ambiguity about its global posture by openly aligning with terrorism and antisemitic violence. Its revolutionary identity was no longer rhetorical; it was operational.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"51ljd-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"51ljd-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"51ljd-0-0\">The Iranian people responded in the opposite direction.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"6rgfm-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"6rgfm-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"6rgfm-0-0\">Across multiple cities worldwide, Iranians demonstrated with the Lion and Sun flag, openly expressing solidarity with Israel. This was not tactical positioning. It was a civilizational signal. It underscored a reality long suppressed: hostility toward Israel is not Iranian tradition, but revolutionary doctrine imposed by force.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"69aoj-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"69aoj-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"69aoj-0-0\">The historical relationship between Iran and Israel\u2014ruptured by the Islamic Republic, not by the Iranian nation\u2014returned to public consciousness. Israel\u2019s consistent effort to distinguish between the regime and the Iranian people reinforced this divide. By treating Iranians as a captive society rather than an enemy population, Israel indirectly strengthened the legitimacy of Prince Reza Pahlavi as a national figure rather than a factional actor.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"bef9e-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"bef9e-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"bef9e-0-0\">Strategically, this distinction matters. It weakens the regime\u2019s claim to represent Iran externally and reinforces the possibility of Iran\u2019s reintegration into the regional security architecture without ideological hostility.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"4iia1-0-0\">\n<h3 class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"4iia1-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"4iia1-0-0\">Collapse Is the Easy Part<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"104q-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"104q-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"104q-0-0\">The fall of the Islamic Republic, whenever it occurs, will not automatically produce a stable Iran. The most dangerous phase begins afterward.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"1rpi1-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"1rpi1-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"1rpi1-0-0\">Leftist and Islamist networks do not disappear with regime change; they adapt. They soften language while preserving objectives. Under slogans of peace, justice, or anti-imperialism, the same ideological structures\u2014anti-American, antisemitic, and hostile to liberal order\u2014can re-enter power through democratic mechanisms if the transition lacks clear boundaries.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"6spiq-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"6spiq-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"6spiq-0-0\">From a U.S. and Israeli defense perspective, this is a familiar pattern: regime collapse without institutional neutralization produces gray-zone threats, proxy regeneration, and asymmetric destabilization.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"362s5-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"362s5-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"362s5-0-0\">This is why slogans matter strategically. They define legitimacy. They constrain the range of acceptable futures. It anchors national identity above factional politics. It removes the need for ideological legitimacy by restoring historical legitimacy within a constitutional framework.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"7420d-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"7420d-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"7420d-0-0\">This model is not theoretical. Spain\u2019s transition after Franco demonstrated how monarchy provided continuity while democratic institutions emerged without revolutionary rupture. Cambodia\u2019s constitutional monarchy played a similar role after decades of ideological devastation, offering national cohesion without authoritarian restoration. In both cases, monarchy functioned as a stabilizing framework, not a governing ideology.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"7nmj8-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"7nmj8-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"7nmj8-0-0\">For Iran, the logic is even stronger. Iran is not merely a modern nation-state; it is a civilizational state\u2014older than its contemporary borders, languages, and political systems. Attempts to compress such a civilization into ideological republics have repeatedly produced instability.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"bkke2-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"bkke2-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"bkke2-0-0\">A Parliamentary Monarchy allows Iran to function as a civilizational state with democratic governance, rather than as an ideological project in permanent crisis.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"2hpcf-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"2hpcf-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"2hpcf-0-0\">For the United States, this model reduces strategic uncertainty and lowers the risk of post-collapse adversarial realignment. For Israel, it removes the ideological driver of Iranian hostility that has underpinned decades of asymmetric warfare. For regional and global energy markets, it signals rule-based governance instead of sanctions-driven volatility. In realist terms, it is the only post-Islamic framework that allows Iran to become a net contributor to regional stability rather than a persistent security liability.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"cn4h0-0-0\">\n<h3 class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"cn4h0-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"cn4h0-0-0\">Dismantling the Parallel State: End, Reclaim, Integrate<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"bdagv-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"bdagv-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"bdagv-0-0\">The IRGC is not just a military actor\u2014it is a hybrid threat organization, combining armed force, intelligence, ideological enforcement, and economic dominance. Its survival under any transitional government would make Iran ungovernable and a persistent regional threat. A post-Islamic transition must follow a disciplined triad: end the parallel state, reclaim the economy, integrate capability without ideology.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"eaprn-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"eaprn-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"eaprn-0-0\">1. End the Parallel State The IRGC\u2019s independent command, intelligence apparatus, and ideological oversight\u2014most notably the Supreme Leader\u2019s Representation\u2014must be dissolved. This is institutional sunsetting, not punitive. The goal is a unified national defense under the <\/span><span data-offset-key=\"eaprn-0-1\">Artesh<\/span><span data-offset-key=\"eaprn-0-2\">, accountable to the constitution and civilian leadership. From a U.S. and Israeli security perspective, this neutralizes the IRGC\u2019s capacity for proxy operations and internal interference.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"6fnjo-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"6fnjo-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"6fnjo-0-0\">2. Reclaim the Economy The IRGC dominates up to half of Iran\u2019s economy\u2014from construction conglomerates to telecommunications and banking\u2014creating a militarized economic ecosystem that finances regional operations. Assets should be transferred to a National Recovery Fund to prevent oligarchic capture, then privatized transparently. This restores markets, strengthens the middle class, and dismantles the financial backbone of the so-called \u201cResistance Economy,\u201d reducing systemic instability.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"8i2t7-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"8i2t7-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"8i2t7-0-0\">3. Integrate Capability Without Ideology A scorched-earth purge risks insurgency. Professional and technical units\u2014Aerospace, Navy, Missile, Satellite\u2014should be audited and integrated into the <\/span><span data-offset-key=\"8i2t7-0-1\">Artesh<\/span><span data-offset-key=\"8i2t7-0-2\">. Personnel tied to ideological enforcement or domestic repression must be barred. This preserves operational expertise while ensuring that the military is loyal to the constitution and the state, not to doctrine or clerical authority. From a JST and U.S.\/Israeli strategic perspective, this neutralizes asymmetric threats while retaining Iran\u2019s defensive capabilities.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"9rr27-0-0\">\n<h2 class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"9rr27-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"9rr27-0-0\">Civilizational Continuity and Ethnic Pluralism<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"21kbo-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"21kbo-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"21kbo-0-0\">Iran\u2019s civilizational identity is not ethnic uniformity; it is historical coexistence.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"21uf5-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"21uf5-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"21uf5-0-0\">Persians, Azeris, Kurds, Baluchs, Arabs, Lurs, Turkmen, and others have all belonged to Iran\u2019s civilizational space long before modern nationalism or ideological rule. The Islamic Republic exploited ethnic grievances by centralizing power without equality. Ideological republics, by definition, demand uniformity of belief.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"1b8el-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"1b8el-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"1b8el-0-0\">Civilizational continuity offers a different logic.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"p1dh-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"p1dh-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"p1dh-0-0\">The Lion and Sun flag functions as an inclusive umbrella precisely because it predates ideological division. It does not belong to one ethnicity, sect, or political movement. It represents <\/span><span data-offset-key=\"p1dh-0-1\">Mihan<\/span><span data-offset-key=\"p1dh-0-2\">\u2014the homeland\u2014as a shared civilizational space rather than an ideological construct.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"longform-unstyled\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"4prf7\" data-offset-key=\"3ktbh-0-0\">\n<div class=\"public-DraftStyleDefault-block public-DraftStyleDefault-ltr\" data-offset-key=\"3ktbh-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"3ktbh-0-0\">Within a secular democratic framework, equality of citizenship\u2014men and women, all ethnicities, all regions\u2014can coexist with decentralization, cultural rights, and administrative self-management\u00a0without threatening national unity.
